about.

Part landscaper, part abstract artist, Avila assumes an ethical position to the consciousness and global concerns of our destiny. Bold elements of stone, light and graphic visual textures create atmospheres with an almost infinite possibility of interpretation.

Born in Holguin, Cuba, the award winning painter, sculptor and designer has had solo and collective exhibitions worldwide.

Avila, creator of the world famous Icons of Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfugos in the Revolutionary Square in Havana, assimilates both the principles of graphic design and the profession of scenographic construction.

Contrary to what some may imagine, Enrique Ávila is not a sculptor who ventures into painting. He defines himself as "a painter who makes sculptures." He studied at the Provincial School of Plastic Arts in his hometown and then at the National School of Art in Havana. In 1972 he began working as a professor of Painting and Design at the Provincial School of Art in Holguin. In addition, he studied postgraduate in Basic Design at the National School of Art and History of Art and Literature at the Holguin University Center.
